Firstly abject apologies if the answer is known to everyone except me. At the age of 61 I have just become an avid carbooter, picking up some lovely treasures and therefore have been looking at family things with a new eye. I have a plate which was my grandmother's, always hanging on her wall and ignored by all.
It is a Meakin, but spelt Meaken. The stamp on the back is green with a crown and says Hanley England, top and bottom and J&G Meaken across the middle. Underneath the stamp in a semi circle it says semi. porcelain
Also on the bottom is written, or should i say painted, by hand in blue 'Lake of Lucerne'
The picture on the front is indeed of Lake Lucerne, all in blue and white. A boathouse on the left, row boat in foreground, sail boat and small island centre right and mountains in distance.
I have looked up Meaken Lucerne pattern but none are like this. From looking at the Meakin on the web I would be surprised if it was valuable but I would like to know if it is a one off plate for hanging (it feels quite heavy and has raised curlicues (?) around the edge) or was it part of a set?
