Your dining table is from what is called the golden oak period which was from about 1880 to about the 20`s or so !! Much was revamped in the early 30`s but styles were changing and these are what we usually see !! The paw type feet are leftovers from the late empire period style !!  I would not refinish the table as it reduces the value considerably !!  Looks like the legs need to be tightened up as this was a major problem with these tables because the top is pretty heavy and the glue will sometimes degrade and legs splay out as yours appears to have done !! You have a nice piece of american oak furniture and with the leaves,,if all is in good condition,,sell for anywhere between $250. and $750. in my area,, Texas !! Yours would be mid to upper range of that price !!

Just have to say that being engaged in this website does bring one knowledge they wish they had before.  My friend's grandmother had 2 of these tables at their camp that we sold last year.  Of course, what did I know???  Nothing apparently because we sold them for $60 a piece!!!!   :'(  One reason I am asking so many questions and researching before I get rid of anything else   ;D

You gotta be kidding ??? $60. ??? Of course prices vary depending on area but around here,, these tables are one of the most popular styles and sell pretty quickly when advertised !!

Unfortunately not kidding - oh the lessons we learn - only difference in the tables we had is that they were on wheels but exact same paws, wood, track for leafs etc.   So glad I am trying to educate myself now and finding it a lot of fun.   :D

Ours is very similar, but instead of the sharp edges around the table pedestal, it's perfectly round.  The finish is more rustic.  Our chairs are very simple with a ladder back and a caned bottom.  It belonged to his great-grandmother, who received it when she was married in 1900.

We've got casters!  We also have a tag nailed to the top of the pedestal where it can't be seen, written in pencil.  Can't make out a thing!  one day I'll scan it, and use the software to manipulate it, and see what can be seen.

Mart what do you think would be the best way to go about selling the piece? Craigslist, a local antique store, auction?
