Framed Silk Print?
« on: September 01, 2011, 10:22:32 am »
I have had these for many years and don't know anything about them. I'll never part with them but just knowing something about them would be nice. Any information would be appreciated.

One of the pictures has the paper off the back so I was able to take it out and have a look. It is just a piece of scrap fabric (silk). I can't find any writing, nothing.

I'll post a few pictures:

I don't know anything about them but I wanted to say that they are just lovely. I think they'd be spectacular in a little girl's room.

Painting on silk has been around a long time !!  It is a complicated and time consuming art as each color is put on one at a time and everything else is covered with a resist so it doesn`t bleed through !!  It can take hours upon hours to complete a small section !! Yours however looks more like a printed silk rather than hand painted !!  Can`t tell for sure !!

Thanks, lalanyc. I love them too!
Mart: I am pretty sure they are prints. I wish I had asked about them before my Great-Aunt passed.  :'(

Cool articles/items , snowflake .

They appear to be French to my eyes , possibly from a known printer-on-silk-items firm (whose records are pretty sketchy/non-existant , regarding many articles) .

There's a specialty museum in Missouri (silk museum) that you can search for (I forget their e-address) , I do believe that their e-mail link on their pages still works .
Perhaps they've seen identical items ?

I contacted the museum to ask if they would mind me sending a few photos. I'll post if they come up with anything.
