Need help re china pattern
« on: July 17, 2004, 06:27:34 pm »
I am trying to find out any information out there about a set of china that I have. The back reads, "Lancaster, hand-painted, Syracuse China. The pattern has fluted edges. Red/pink tulips with green leaves and blue markings are around the inside rim. A picutre of a man (blue hat, red shirt, blue pants, stockings) playing a violin or fiddle is in the middle of the platter. A dancing girl (dressed in the same colors) is to the man's left and a dancing boy is to his right. It appears to be handpainted. Thanks for any help you can give.

No, only what I had mentioned before: Lamcaster, hand-painted, Syracuse China. I have searched Syracuse but have found nothing that matched this pattern. Thanks for any help you can give.

What can you tell me about this particular pattern? Where it was made? Was it a restaurant pattern or something used in the home? How old might it be? I've had it for almost 30 years myself and the couple that gave it to me said they received it when they first set up houskeeping and they were in their 60s at the time they gave it to me. I have 12 complete place settings as well as several serving pieces.

Hi D & B - & Cal -

Mind if I jump in here?  Check out:

http://www.replacements.com/webquote/SY_LAN.htm

If this is the pattern, values given are high retail replacement, wonderful for insurance purposes.  For resale, deduct about one third or one half, tho' that percentage is not written in stone.     KB
