What is this cabinet?

My wife picked this up for me today.  I really do like it.  We are curious to what it is.  I think it may be a radio that someone did work to.  It is 24 tall and 17 wide.  The top and sides are veneered, and the front doesn't really seem to match.  I'm not concerned about value.  Just wondering what you folks think of it.

Wish I could help. I am sure someone can though. That drawer swings open? Can't wait to see what others have to say.

If I am not mistaken its an old sewing cabinet !!  Someone had one posted here a few months ago about similar size & design !!

I'm curious to know , trey :

Does the "1/2 Lazy-Susan" (let's call it a lazy sue) drawer appear to be a modification to an original sliding drawer , or to an original drawer-front , to your eyes ?

Looks like designs from the first half of the 20th century , IMO .

It was not posted as a sewing cabinet in the subject line !! It was posted as a whats this type !!  I think Wendy knew what its use was !! I don`t even know how to search this forum !! Never needed to before now !!

The lazy susan doesnt appear to be a modification.  Looking at wear marks, I don't see any from a previous drawer.  The hardware is not original, but I'm sure you all noticed that. 

So, if the lazy susan is a mod, then the wood supporting it is modified also.  That sheet of plywood matches the interior of the cabinet.  Its really strange, I'm not to sure what to think of it.  I sure like it.  In its current condition, I see no real value to it, so I may re-veneer it.

It wouldn`t let me copy and paste the pic !! Google vintage sewing cabinet and go down to the row of pics !! There is one on the right side that shows a different style but has the swing out drawer like yours !! It was for threads and such !!

Yeah I think Dontbe knows but Ad revenue (hopefully) helps offset site expenses so no biggie. It works once you are in a forum.
