Noritake Platter
« on: September 28, 2011, 01:56:28 pm »
Hey all!  I got this Noritake painted platter or tray and I can't find any other like it (my typical issue).  It's 11.5" handle to handle x 8 1/8", and 1 5/8" deep.  I'll put the bottom stamp on the next post.  I read that the earlier patterns used a lot of gold, as does this one.  From the bottomstamp I think it's 1918-1933.  I can't find anything else about it like a pattern name or a value, though...haven't found one similar yet.  Not sure what type of bird this is, either.

Again beautiful!!!!!!  This mark c.1918 - and was used with modifications until the New York office of Noritake closed in 1941. It was used in a variety of colors but this green was used on patterns decorated at the main factory at Nagoya. No luck on finding this one  :P

Thanks, Wendy!  Noritake seems to vary so much in value...I found a $5,000 powder box down to like $14 teacup & saucer sets.  I would think this would be worth something, but how much, I have no idea!

I have another Noritake platter/tray that I haven't been able to find info on yet...it's smaller, 8 5/8" long.  Textured gold overlay.  Anyone know an approximate date, value, pattern, or anything?  Tips much appreciated as always!!  :)
