Here it is...Cast Iron just sorta rolled, hole all the way through long ways, then 3 holes vertical and a hooked shape on the end....and for some reason its hanging on a shoe string.

It could very well be another "corn  husker" that was made by a blacksmith.

A good blacksmith could make something like that in 15 minutes or less.

As a kid, I use to go frog/fish gigging a lot with a carbide light ….. and using those cheapy made “wire” gigs I would buy at the hardware store for 35 cents or so …… which were always bending, breaking and tearing up iffen I hit a rock.

Now I was kinda crying to my Dad about those cheapy gigs and he says …… “Go over to Pat Friends and tell him I said for him to make you a gig that you won’t be tearing up every 10 minutes”.

And that’s what I did posthaste …….. and in less than 45 minutes after he had a couple more drinks of whiskey and fired up his forge, …….. and with a smile on his face Pat handed me something that looked almost identical to this, to wit:

Or a heavy duty nut meat picker. But I have no clue. Both are awesome tools though!

The only thing i dont understand is why someone took the time to make it hollow...and then add 3 more holes. Doesn't seem like a blacksmith would waste his time adding a lot of work with no purpose.

The holes might be just for that reason, to wrap your hand into the strap to help keep a grip on it. Just guessing though.

A blacksmith would have started with a flat piece of metal, ...... put the holes in it with a hammer and flat-ended punch ........ and then rolled the metal into its round shape.

The majority of ole time blacksmiths didn't do very much "hole drilling" in metal ..... primarily because they didn't own a high speed drill ..... nor the drill bits to do it with.

most of us avoid "hole drilling" today if we can help it lol, if it doesnt have to be a precise size its alot easier to just punch the hole.. Im wondering if thats a handle for interchangeable metal files?
