We have a piece that's sort of a lamp and sort of a picture. It's from the late 1940s or early 1950s. It has a large (about 6" wide), square, beige, painted metal frame. The frame surrounds a picture with small fluorescent tubes within the frame upper and lower to light up the picture. The picture is composed of colored glass cut into mosaic pieces. It depicts sort of an antebellum scene with a Southern belle and I think a tree and a house (I haven't looked at it in a while. It's in storage.) We want to donate it to an auction that will be held for charity but we don't know what value to put on it. We don't even know what to call it so that we can search for a manufacturer and get an appraisal. Our antique dealer has never seen anything like it. Can anyone give me information about this piece?

HELP!! Recently I have inheireted my grandmothers belongings which were handed down to my Mom and now to me. I have several very old pieces of porcelin figurines. The one I am particularaly curious about is a Dresden Germany piece with two crossed swords just above the "Germany" below "Dresden" on the underside of the figurine. It stands approx 6" and is of a victorian type woman with a parot on her left arm, timy bird in her hair dressed in elegant lace clothing. The majority of the dress is flared from the low cut portion with what I can only describe as beautifully frilled and many folds and is entirely of fine porcelin very fin net weave that you can see thru. The fine work is can be described as if you were to take a very sharp needle an pierce a sheet of paper very, very close together...sort of like a mosquito netting....all porcelin. The showing part of the under dress is blue in color (robins eg) and a beautifuyl flower hand painted in the center of the dress just underneath the waist line. It is plainly visable that the handiwork is absolutely magnificent and very dainty. I know nothing of such things and if sombody out there is familiar with Dresden Porcelin Figurines and can provide me with some sort of price range to it's worth I would greatly appreciaate it. Of course, I know this is sight unseen and could only be an educated guess and I thank you very uch for whatever help you can be. Please email me at Clomnel*at*aol.com with any info you can share with me. Thank you all so very much! Mary Fulton

I picked up a necklace and am curious about it. The woman that sold it to me let me know that it had come from a Jewish lady. It appears to be handmade, has Israel stamped on the back edge with another mark or two two small to make out. It is worn. It is a silver oval pendant, the oval lying side-ways. In the oval there is some sort of materal, frosted-like that holds some sort of fluid, you can see a couple of bubbles. It appears to be an oil of sorts and gives the appearance of oil floating on water. Does anyone know anything about it? Sharon
I have a coffee table with a brass tag under it that says: Sangerle & Peterson, Chicago. It has a leather inlay with brass feet. Side leafs with two dovetailed drawers. Can't find anything on this manufacturers name and would like to know if anyone out there knows anything about it.
I purchased a washbowl and pitcher several years ago at a garage sale. Recently while cleaning it, I noticed on the bottom of the bowl and pitcher is stamped Ironstone 1890 England. It is a cream and mauve color. The pitcher has 2 geese on each side of it. One with a blue ribbon around the neck the other a pink ribbon around the neck. It has a fancy type of scrolling design around the edges of the bowl and pitcher and at several points it looks almost like the top of a shaft of wheat in the design. I have gone to the library to try to locate a book that may have a picture of anything resembling what I have but I have found nothing on just Ironstone. Can someone make a suggestion on a book or an antique dealer that may be able to help me find out the history and value of my large washbowl and pitcher?

Hi! I picked up a Rogers Smith (New Haven, Connecticut) teapot at a garage sale years ago, and I know NOTHING about it's origins or worth. It's marked 2000 and appears to be silverplated (though I can't be sure). There are clawfeet on it (with a lion at the base of each foot). Some of the triangular designs remind me of art deco sconces, though I'm not very well versed, so don't assume I know the year! Any info about this (including it's approx. worth) would be greatly appreciated... thanks! D~
Hello, I inherrited a set of china from my grandmother, it originally belonged to her mother. There is an error in the vase entry. It is white with a blue design (picture).
I have a vase that I found in 1962 - old looking at that time. It is white with gold design. There is a windmill in the center (about 3 inches tall) with a house to the lft and three smaller windmills in the distance to the right. There is a pond in front of the large watermill. All around this picture is a desigh and then there are flowers on each side. It is approximately 10 inches tall. In all has a background of white, and the pictures /designs are in shades of blue. The bottom has a house (similar to something painted with a water color brush in blue and a signature under it.I can not read the signature, but after it on the next line is a capital B. both the signature and the B are as if they were done a water color brush. There is also a number stamped (imprinted) across the signature which seems to be 3001. Where does this come from, and is there any value to it? It is really quite pretty. It is crackled from age, but I use it each summer for flowers.
I have recently purchased a snall pitchur (white with med to dark blue clover shaped symbols on it). I would guess it is porcelin. On the bottom it states 'BRENTWOOD" an interesting picture insignia with a cat like figure on one side of an oval and a deer with antlers on the other. Under the emblem is stated WM ADAMS & SONS, England, EST 1657, MICRATEX. Can anyone tell me anything about this, and where I could purchase more items if they are available.

Yesterday I attended an estate sale in the Pacific Heights District of San Francisco. The house was a very grand Victorian with furniture collected from the 18th and 19th century. I fell in love and purchased a rocking chair but the curator of the estate sale did not have a date or idea as to when the rocker was made. I will try to best describe it to you... 1) 3 Curved back rests with the cente of each curve pointed upwards. 2) Dark Mahogoney Wood 3) Two finials on the top of each side of the chair in the shape of 2 eggs with a circluar cap on the top. 4) it is a low seating chair with the seat only 24 inches off the ground. 5) The closest to a label on the chair is a thick red cross or "t" on the left leg. I know that picture speak a thousand words and I do appreciate anything you can do to help me locate the chairs origins.

My father gave me a framed sketch he purchased at an antique store about 15 years ago. It is a sail boat and looks like it may have some water color in it. It is signed "J.K. Thurston '89" I have searched all over the web and cannot find any info on this artist of his/her work. I am assuming it dates back to 1889. Have you ever heard of this artist and/or his/her work. Where can I find info. on this. Thank you.
